The History of Weller Bourbon

Weller Bourbon is an American whiskey first produced in 1887 by William W. Weller at his distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky. Beam Suntory own the brand since 2006. It is one of the oldest American whiskey brands still made today because it was the first American whiskey to receive a gold medal at the World Spirits Competition in London in 1990.

Weller Bourbon has been around since 1866, making it one of the oldest distilleries in America. The brand was founded by George T. Stagg, who wanted to create a high quality product that would stand out from other whiskeys on the market. But, he started his company in Louisville, Kentucky, where he built a new distillery and hired master distillers to help craft his signature style. Additionally, the bourbon is produced using a continuous column still, allowing them to maintain consistency throughout the process. 

Weller is distilled twice, giving it a smoother taste than most bourbons. Its flavor profile includes vanilla, caramel, oak, and citrus notes. It’s available in both single barrel and limited edition expressions.
