Detailed Description
Johnnie Walker Platinum has been rebranded and repackaged as Johnnie Walker 18 Year. Platinum was an 18 Year whisky, so nothing has changed apart from a new name and new look for the blended whisky. The fact that it is an 18 Year old whisky has just been given its proper prominence for the brand. Made from up to 18 different whiskies for the blend including whisky from Blair Athol, Cardhu, Glen Elgin, and Auchroisk. This is bottled at 40% ABV.
Johnnie Walker 18 Year Old Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes
Nose: Your nose will be greeted with a rich aroma of stone fruit, toffee, and a wee bit of distant smoke in the background.
Palate: Vanilla, almonds, and tangerines present themselves first with sweet-cream butter and toffee blooming on the back palate.
Finish: The finish is soft but lingering with flamed orange zest and dark chocolate.
Distillery Information
In 1857, Alexander Walker — Johnnie Walker’s eldest son — inherited the store and began improving its selection of single malt Scotch whiskies. In addition, Alexander had apprenticed with a tea merchant in Glasgow and there, had learned the art of blending tea. Under his stewardship, the House of Walker began blending whisky and bottling it in an iconic, square bottle adorned with a slanted label.
